What is Self Assessment
Self Asssessment is for those who are self employed and need to pay to the UK government. It is done to ensure that the government collects income tax equallty from everyone in the country. If you are employed and in a full time job, your tax will automatically be deducted from your paycheck. However, if you are self employed, you will need to declare your tax and pay it to the government yourself.
If you need to fill in a Self Assessment form, you must make sure that it is done after the end of the tax year. You can find out when the current tax year ends on the government website. Alternatively, you can also send off your self-assessment online. To do this, you will need to make an account over on the government website. Remember you details for the next time you log in, as it will save time during your self-assessment process.
HMRC will calculate how much you owe after you have sent off your self-assessment form to them. You can send off your self-assessment to the address above.

About Self Assessment
The Self Assessment service from HMRC ensures that self-employed people in the UK pay the right tax on time. Where someone in full employment will automatically have their tax taken away from their pay, those who are self-employed need to fill out a form, found on the government website, and send it to the head office address above. All those who are self employed must pay their tax to HMRC this way.
